Hundreds Lend A Helping Hand In Binghamton University's Name

Posted: Updated:
BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -

Hundreds of Binghamton University alumni, staff, and students are giving back to their communities. This is the fourth year of the university's initiative "Global Day of Service."

At Mom's House NY, volunteers came to do some yard work for the nonprofit. Similar projects are taking place around the globe.

"It's really quite humbling to be honest because the alumni themselves are so passionate about their communities, so the fact that they can come together and encourage their family and friends to do this and do it on behalf of Binghamton, means that we really have wonderful alumni who just really are passionate," says Alicia Hibbard, Senior Coordinator of Alumni Volunteer Engagement for the university.

Organizers say about 500 alumni and 300 students are taking part in the initiative this year.
