Vestal Baseball Closes The Door On Binghamton

Posted: Updated:

Today the Vestal Golden Bears hosted the Binghamton Patriots up on the hill and it was a close game up until the fifth inning.

Vestal trailed Binghamton 4-3 heading into the fifth inning and Adam Micczkowski drilled one out to the third base line to gets the bats going for Vestal. Micczkowski's hit forced Matt Car to almost get stuck in a pick but instead, Carr reached home as Binghamton overthrew to third base. Carr's run tied up the game at 4-4.

Derek Avery also added to the board in the fifth inning and after a shot right through the gap of center field for the 2 run RBI, Vestal lead 6-4 in the fifth inning.

Binghamton's pitcher Nick Delanoy tried keeping it a close game after letting up 3 runs in the fifth but unfortunately Vestal was not ready to let up. Can the Patriots hold and come back?

Vestal's Adam Micczkowski has your answer to that question.  Micczkowski rips one out to left field for the solo home-run. His teammates greet him at home plate and Vestal led 9-4 in the sixth inning.

The Golden Bears held onto their lead and defeated Binghamton 9-6.
