BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

The Binghamton women's lacrosse team fell 18-5 to No. 1 Stony Brook Saturday morning at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Senior Brianne Arthur scored a team-high two goals in the contest.

"Stony Brook is number one in the nation for a reason," head coach Stephanie Allen said. "They've got incredible speed and competitiveness out there in addition to their talent and depth. I thought we came out and made some good adjustments in the second half and really played a grittier game than we did in the first. Overall, we need to reset this week and focus on what we have coming up at Hartford next weekend."

A sparked Bearcat offense came out ready to go in the second half, as Binghamton and Stony Brook went 5-6 in goals. Senior Jacqueline Kennedy got the offense moving just three minutes into play, scoring her 22nd of the season. Arthur combined for two free position shots shortly after to give her a team-high 27 goals so far this season. Binghamton's fourth goal came from freshman Alyssa Sanchez, capitalizing off a shot from senior Jocelyn Penteck that ricocheted off the post and into Sanchez's stick. Sanchez picked up the ground ball and her second career goal with 13 minutes to go. Junior Rebecca Golderman scored the Bearcats fifth and final goal of the game, unassisted for her 21st of the season.

The Seawolves combined for 12 goals in the first half, adding six in the second to walk away with an 18-5 win over BU.

Senior Miriam Ghabarou picked up two ground balls on the day, while sophomore Alexa Franze added two caused turnovers to her total. Split time in the net from sophomore Taylor Passuello and senior Emma Jehle resulted in 10 total saves, eight of which came from Passuello in the first half of play.

The Bearcats are back in action next Saturday, April 14 at Hartford. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start time.
