Rumble Ponies Home Opener Brings Thousands To NYSEG Stadium

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Fans didn't let the cold weather stop them from coming out to see the Rumble Ponies and their newest player, Tim Tebow. With temperatures hovering in the 30s, thousands - bundled in coats, hats, and blankets - came out to NYSEG Stadium Thursday night to see Tim Tebow’s Double-A debut.

"There's never been this many people in the stadium."

And the Heisman Trophy winner sure knows how to make an entrance.

Tebow hit a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw, sending a liner far over the fence down the right-field line giving the Portland Sea Dogs a taste of Tebow Time.

Last April, Tebow homered in his first at-bat with the Class A Columbia Fireflies of the South Atlantic League.

For the last eight years, Binghamton has had the worst audience attendance in the Eastern League, but fans say that’s going to change this year.

“I think it’ll be great, the morale will be up and as far as the expectations i think all will go well and i think more people will come out and support the rumble ponies.”
