'Eggstravaganza' Gives Zoo-Goers An Early Preview

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Kids who took part in the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park's 'Eggstravaganza' got to hunt for Easter eggs at their own pace on Saturday.

Instead of sprinting to fill baskets, or diving for eggs filled with candy, kids got to take one ticket of 5 different colors at each post to exchange for prizes at the zoo’s gift shop.

By mid afternoon, 700 visitors passed through the gates. The zoo expects attendance will top 2,000 this year.

Children made their way through the zoo and visited animal exhibits, like the bright yellow-eyed cougar, the Cinerous Vulture and snakes of every shape and color from small and green to long and yellow.

The animals got their own treat with Easter themed toys and food.

While the zoo's grand opening is April 21st, Eggstravaganza gives the public an early preview. Day two starts on Sunday at 10 a.m. and will close at 3 p.m.
