Christians Observe Good Friday

Posted: Updated:
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

All across the world, Friday, the over 2 billion followers of Christianity observed Good Friday by remembering the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth, during his crucifixion.

At St. Mary's of Assumption in Binghamton, hundreds of believers gathered for prayer services as church members revisited the Stations of the Cross. Seeing the high intensity of devotion from his members, Pastor Jon Werner said it really brightens his day to see his flock carry the message from inside the walls and out into the world.

"We just love to watch the devotion that they have and the desire to really honor the lord. I always like on Good Friday when people come down and venerate the cross," said Pastor Werner.

Werner said although he's not an historian, throughout history there have been many times of need, but thanks to followers, friends, and members of different faiths, Good Friday has always been a day to come together and urge prosperity for all.

St. Mary's will be holding Easter services, Sunday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
