Binghamton Women's Basketball Looks To Defeat Yale University In The Second Round Of The WBIPosted: Updated:
Binghamton Women's Basketball will host Yale University tomorrow at 7 p.m. for the second round of the WBI.
The Lady Bearcats fell short to Yale in over time during the regular season and will come into tomorrow nights game with more experience and understanding of what it's going to take to defeat the Ivy league school.
Of course it will have to entail very good offense and extremely aggressive defense, or as head coach Linda Cimino stated, "We need to play Binghamton basketball." When I asked America East player of the year Imani Watkins what Binghamton basketball exactly is, she stated, "defense.. mainly... I think when we have a lot defensive intensity and a lot of defensive fire, that fuels our offense, and I think tomorrow if we can really maintain that and really focus and lock in on defense and get out and press a little bit and run the floor, I think we'll be successful. "
Their success tomorrow will be even more magnified as they'll be playing on the same court that started their historic run, right here at Binghamton University. As exciting as it is being a apart of a post season game , it's even more exciting knowing that their will be hundreds of familiar faces cheering them on.
"It's a great environment, our fans are amazing and just to play in front of our home fan base is a great feeling as well." stated red shirt junior Jasmine Sina.
There is a lot at stake tomorrow especially knowing that if they do defeat Yale University, they will be the first team in the America East team to ever advance to the WBI semi finals, but if they don't win it could be a few of the best basketball players BU has ever seen, last game playing in a Binghamton jersey.
But, according to Senior Alyssa James, that's not something she thinks of. James stated. "For me I have dreams past this and I'm going to continue to play basketball, so I really don't feel like this is my last game, although this might be my last game with these teammates and with my coaching staff I never feel like it's my last game, so I don't even think about that."
