Susquehanna Valley's Perfect Season Continues with State Crown

Posted: Updated:
Hudson Valley, NY -

The dream has finally come true --  Led by head coach, Chad Frieje, the Susquehanna Valley Lady Sabers (25-0) have won a NY State Title, Saturday, defeating Section I's Irvington 55-52, in the Class B State Championship to remain undefeated in high school basketball's 2018 season.

It's their second New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHAA) championship in four years.

SV's senior guard, Trinasia Kennedy, earned herself a Tournament MVP title on top of her game-high 20 points at Hudson Valley Community College.

ALthough it was the Sabers who held their Championship trophy above all others, Irvington's All-Tournament Selection, Olivia Valdes  can hang her head high as well, with her team-high 19 points.

Holly Manchester scored 11 points, and with just over 21 seconds left in the game she grew her team's lead to 54-50. Maeve Donnelly finished with 8 points.

SV Lady Sabers will continue their season, traveling to the Glens Falls Civic Center for the Class B Federation tournament, March 24.
