Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, N.Y. -

The New York State Senate passed legislation Monday regarding sexual harassment in the workplace.

The bill would prevent individuals from engaging in misconduct that creates a hostile work environment in both the public and private sectors and encourages victims to come forward.

Some of the major reforms passed Monday included establishing a definition of sexual harassment, prohibiting the anonymity of the accused, prohibiting confidentially agreements, and protecting taxpayers from paying for public sector harassment settlements.

The bill will be sent to the Assembly.
