Two more Crowned Regional Basketball Champions

It was a day filled with tears and happiness. As two more Section IV basketball teams earned a regional championship, two teams from Section III witnessed the end of their season.

Here are your Sunday finals:

Girl's Class B Regional Final:

  • Susquehanna Valley - 47  def.  Bishop Ludden - 35  Final

Boy's Class B Regional Final:

  • Seton Catholic - 57  def.  Westhill - 50  Final

Note worthy statistics:

Saints' (22-2) senior guard, Leo Gallagher, netted 26 points against Westhill (20-5), the defending NY State Champion. Marcus Dyes and fellow freshman, Brett Rumpel, combined for 24 points, while Seton's senior, Peter Hartrick, collected 17 rebounds.

SV Lady Sabers' Hannah Haskell scored a team-high 15 points, and Maeve Donnely walked away from the win over the Gaelic Knights with a double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Seton Catholic boys are now sporting a 15-game win streak. They will play in the Class B NY State Semi-final against Section VI's Buffalo Health Sciences at 5:00 p.m. Friday, at the Arena.

SV will play Section V's Midlakes at 3:15 p.m. Friday, at Hudson Valley Community College for a shot at the Class B NY State Championship game.
