Prospect Mountain Construction To Affect Traffic March 12-16

BINGHAMTON, NY -

The New York State Department of Transportation says more construction work on the Prospect Mountain Construction project will be performed this week, affecting traffic in Binghamton.

From Monday, March 12, through Wednesday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the right lane of I-81 South will be closed between Exit 6 (Chenango Bridge/Nimmonsburg) and Exit 5 (Front Street) for concrete barrier installation.

From Monday, March 12, through Friday, March 16, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be periodic, alternating lane closures on Broad Avenue at the I-81/SR-17 overpass for crews to remove the existing abutments and steel on the I-81 North/Route 17 West bridge over Broad Avenue. 

From Monday, March 12, through Friday, March 16, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be periodic alternating lane closures on SR-7 North between Robinson Street and Bevier Street for excavation and pile driving operations at the end abutment location of the new I-81 North/Route 17 West bridge over Route 7.

From Monday, March 12, through Friday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be periodic alternating lane closures on Route 7 South between Bevier Street and Frederick Street for pile driving operations at the new I-81 North/Route 17 West bridge over Route 7.

Work will be performed weather permitting.
