Women Suffragists Exhibit Kicks Off SUNY Broome Art Series

Posted: Updated:

The Broome County Arts Council is showcasing the artwork of SUNY Broome students in the "Triple-Play" Art Exhibition Series of Faces.

The first exhibit opened Friday evening and featured Women Suffragists. It will be on display for the entire month of March.

The artwork is aimed to celebrate people who have been marginalized and have gone through sacrifices to make a difference.

"I'm so proud of my students. They push beyond their comfort zone, they've done a wonderful job. I am celebrating them tonight, I am celebrating them and all of their talents. It's more than just drawing an object, it's social and cultural history. It's learning about sharing the story behind the object." - Patricia Evans, Professor of Design at SUNY Broome

The next featured exhibits will be on the Holocaust, followed by the Underground Railroad, War Veterans, and Native Americans.
