It's A Boy! Gender Revealed For Binghamton Zoo's Baby Porcupine

Posted: Updated:

The Binghamton Zoo has announced the baby porcupine welcomed in February is a male. This is not just a gender reveal, in fact, the zoo themselves didn't know the baby's gender until they called in an expert.

"The way that they sex the baby is they'll actually take the quills and then they'll go and test the quills and that will determine whether it's male or female," Rachel Davenport, the zoo's public relations coordinator, told reporters shortly after the birth.

The zoo is asking the public to come up with a name for the porcupette. Names can be submitted to the Binghamton Zoo's website. Voting starts on March 15th and a name will be chosen on the 16th.
