Dozens Race in Annual "Belmar Parade Day Mile"

Posted: Updated:

Before Saturday's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, dozens participated in the annual Belmar Parade Day Mile.

Starting at the Broome County Library and ending at the Belmar, the one-mile race had a heat for serious competitors and a casual race for fun.

Male and female first place runners in the Elite Heat won $500. In the Open Heat, runners wore their best St. Patrick's Day costumes.

"It's really great for the runners because there's a lot of spectators the whole way and it's great for the community to see people out there being fit and active." - Jenna Jenks, Co-Race Director

While only two walked away with the grand prize, all runners got a free glass that said Parade Day Mile.
