Binghamton Recognizes Women's Contributions In History

Posted: Updated:

The City of Binghamton is reflecting on women's contributions in history. A flag was raised over City Hall Thursday morning and will wave throughout the month of March in recognition of Women's History Month.

Representatives from local women's groups say it's important to remember the contribution of women before them, and to encourage leadership in younger generations.

"I'm a retired teacher, and I've always promoted women's issues and I've always told the young women I've worked with that they can do just the same as the guys," says Carol Grippen, President of Status of Women Council Broome and Tioga.

On March 24th, the council is hosting the Women of Achievement event to recognize individuals who have had an impact in the community.
