Ithaca police officers on Tuesday responded to the Tompkins County Trust Company located at 775 S Meadow St for a report that the bank had just been robbed. Officers quickly arrived on scene and began collecting information from bank employees.
It has been determined that a black male entered the bank with a handgun held down to his side and approached a bank teller to demand that money be put into a white plastic bag that he was holding.
The male was dressed in a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, white sneakers, and had a mask covering his face. He is described as having a thin build, approximately 5’10” tall, and a soft spoken voice.
The bank teller complied with his demands, and the male then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The male was last seen fleeing to the south behind businesses located on Elmira Rd.
Further video evidence revealed that the suspect was seen standing near the bank for several minutes before committing the robbery. If you have any information that would aid this investigation please contact the Ithaca Police Department.
