SUNY Broome Thanks Veterans For Their Service

Posted: Updated:
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

SUNY Broome honored veterans Friday morning with a ceremony on campus. The weather pushed the ceremony inside, but students, staff, and the community still turned out to thank vets for their service.

"Whether you're in the service now or decades ago, whether you served here in the U.S. or across the world, we offer our gratitude and appreciation and our vast respect," says SUNY Broome President Kevin Drumm.

Drumm says the college was built right after World War II as part of the GI bill and veterans continue to be an important part of the student body today.

The college handed out green light bulbs after the ceremony as part of the "Green Light A Vet" campaign. The campaign calls on citizens to keep on a green light outside their homes or offices as a show of support for veterans in the community.
