FOX 40 and the following sponsors would like to wish all the teams the best of luck this football season.

Blue Devils pleased with effort on both sides of ball

Posted: Updated:

When you're arguably, historically, the best football team in the area and you beat, arguably the best team in the area, it's something to be proud of.  For the Chenango Forks Blue Devils, a 21-0 season opening win over Maine-Endwell was just that.  Despite a slow start on offense for both teams, the Blue Devils broke though for a touchdown in the first half and then added two more in the second half, and sprinkled in a handful of defensive turnovers.

With any game, there are things to work on, but Head Coach Dave Hogan was pleased with the effort.

"I think it was a combination of both," Hogan said regarding the slow offensive start due to a sluggish offense or strong defense.  "We certainly shot ourselves in the foot a couple times.  They played pretty tough on defense too, so it certainly wasn't all just us, but certainly a good start for us.  We're very happy.  I think that was a total team effort.  There's lots of kids you could start naming that played very well defensively.  I thought our line did well, though linebackers did well, and I thought our corners and safeties played very well.  A total team effort, I'm very, very proud of them."

Forks hosts Owego on Saturday.
