Hornets with things to improve upon for Week 2

Posted: Updated:
HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. -

It's hard to argue with the result of a 21-7 win over Delhi, but the Harpursville/Afton Hornets know there's room for improvement.  A few times the Hornets offense came up short in big situations against a Bulldogs defense that featured a lot of size.  On the other side of the ball, the Hornets secondary allowed several deep balls to find wide receivers hands, especially late in the game.  With Week 2 fast approaching, it's a busy week at practice looking to shore up a few weaknesses.

"Definitely got to work on offense.  Defense looks strong, still got stuff to do.  We can always improve," said Josh Wilson, senior RB/S.

"Quite frankly, I think we struggled a little bit as far as moving the ball on a consistent basis," said Head Coach Tim Petras.  "We had some drives that died out inside the redzone, which, you got to lead with scores.  Definitely there's offensive things to work out.  Defense, you know technique gets sloppy in the second half, we let up a little bit against the pass."

Harpursville/Afton travels to Walton on Saturday.
