It won't be a very big change for Geno Smith as he trades one MetLife Stadium locker room for the other as he leaves the Jets for the Giants after signing a one-year, $2 million deal with Big Blue. And hey! he'll know someone in the locker room already. Smith's signing comes just two weeks after the Giants signed WR Brandon Marshall away from the Jets.
Smith will serve as backup to Eli Manning. Despite starting regularly for the Jets in his first two seasons after being drafted in 2013, Smith missed the start of 2015 with a broken jaw suffered in a locker room altercation in August of that year. He played in one regular season game. He then only played two games in 2016 before undergoing ACL surgery.
In four years, Smith has 5,962 yards passing and 28 touchdowns in 30 career starts and 33 career games played.
The Jets countered Smith's departure by signing Josh McCown to a one-year, $6 million contract.
