BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Binghamton Police Captain Jack Collins said alcohol played a role in the death of a Binghamton University student who fell from the fourth-story balcony during a party at an off-campus fraternity house Saturday, March 18.

Police said autopsy results showed Conor Donnelly had been drinking. Detectives believe alcohol was a contributing factor in Donnelly's fall from the 92 Front Street balcony of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house.

Authorities say Donnelly fell while trying to climb to a third-floor balcony from the fourth floor.

Collins say there is no evidence Donnelly's death was a result of hazing. The Rockland County student was pledging the fraternity.

Police have ruled Donnelly's death as accidental. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 607-772-7080.
