Broome County Sheriff's Office says the boy who died after being pulled from the Susquehanna River Sunday is seven-year-old Connor Brown.
In a release, Broome Sheriff's Lt. Ben Harting stated Connor Brown fell through the ice while playing outside his Stillwater Road home with his eight-year-old brother, Camron Brown.
Harting added Connor’s mother heard yelling and ran and outside to try to save her son. Police say the mother and Camron also fell through the ice and were pulled from the water by neighbors.
The Broome County Sheriff's Department responded to 132 Stillwater Road in The Town of Conklin at about 5:50 p.m. to reports that a child was trapped under the ice.
Multiple other emergency personnel responded to the scene as well. Around 6:19 p.m., Conklin Fireman Nick Platt located the boy in the river nearby and pulled him from the water.
Police said Brown was taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Hospital -- where he was unable to be revived and pronounced dead around 10:00 p.m. Sunday.
Harting said the investigation is ongoing.
A Meal Train account has been set up for community members to help provide meals to the Brown family.
