Binghamton High School Students' Designs Showcased on Parade Day T-Shirts

Posted: Updated:

This Saturday is the 50th anniversary of Binghamton's St. Patrick's Day Parade -- and the designs of two Binghamton High School students will display that milestone on T-shirts.

The winning design of Sophia Palmer, a BHS freshman, is on the front of the shirt:

The winning design of Cindy Zhang, also a BHS freshman, is on the back of the shirt:

"I think it's really cool and it's really crazy to see your design on other people's shirts," said Zhang.

On Wednesday, parade organizers from the local Hibernian Society awarded both girls $100 for their winning creations.

"We're very excited about everything and these T-shirts just top everything off for us this year," said Tom Kelly, Co-Chairperson of the Hibernian Parade Committee.

Kelly said you can buy these T-shirts for $15 at a parade after-party at Seton Catholic Central -- which will take place until 6 p.m.

Organizers told Fox 40 this year's parade starts at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (March 4th) near the St. Mary of the Assumption Church (near the intersection of Court and Fayetteville Streets). It ends near the intersection of Main and Arthur Streets.

Also from Binghamton High School, Anna Gilroy has been named this year's "Maid of Erin" (a nominated official to represent the parade committee).
