Man Charged With Burglary of City ChurchPosted: Updated:
Binghamton Police arrested 38 year old Scott M. Adams for burglarizing a church and stealing from city businesses. On Thursday morning at approximately 3:30 am, Patrol Officers arrested Adams as he exited the United Presbyterian Church located at 42 Chenango Street. Officers responded to the church after an alarm was activated and Adams was caught exiting the church carrying a laptop that he had taken from inside the church. Adams is suspected of gaining access to the church through a window.
In addition to the burglary charge, Adams is suspected of stealing from two city businesses. All three of the larcenies occurred during the month of November with one being at the Dollar General located at 325 Clinton Street and two being at Mirabito located at 227 Court Street.
Adams was arraigned in City Court on one count of Burglary in the Third Degree and three counts of Petit Larceny. Adams was remanded to the custody of the Broome County Jail.
