Sonostics Inc. Celebrates Expansion to Endicott

Posted: Updated:

A health and wellness start-up company has outgrown its Binghamton University home.  It's now celebrating its new location in the Village of Endicott.

Sonostics Inc. has expanded its office, primarily for marketing and sales, in Washington Avenue.  Its product, the HeartPartner, is a "passive exercise footrest" that stimulates the soleus muscle, also referred to as the "secondary heart."   The product works to treat health problems such as nighttime leg cramps and varicose veins.

A $200,000 low-interest loan offered by the Town of Union's Local Development Corporation (LDC) assisted the company's move.

Town of Union Supervisor Rose Sotak says she hopes the addition will help re-energize the area.

"On the other end of the avenue, you have the corporation of BAE.  And we like the technology coming in, we like the employees coming in that will be strolling the avenue like they did years ago," said Sotak.

Officials say this new location is in Endicott's Advanced Manufacturing iDistrict, identified in the Southern Tier's Upstate Revitalization Initiative.

Sonostics officials say the product is currently manufactured in China -- and say the goal in a three-year plan is to have future products made here.

The company hopes to create about 135 jobs in the next seven years.

Officials also say plans for the future include dedicating the building as an Endicott Technology Center -- with additional technology companies that Sonostics leaders are involved in.
