Woman Killed in Pedestrian Train Accident

The Endicott Police responded to a reported train vs. pedestrian accident in the area of N. Oak Ave. in the Village of Endicott at 11:52 P.M on March 22. Responding officers located a 26 year old female deceased on the railroad tracks.

The train engineer and the train conductor were operating a Norfolk Southern Train west bound when they witnessed a female leave the area of a parked vehicle, run onto the train tracks and lay down across both rails. The train was not able to stop prior to striking the victim and the engine came to a final stop near Page Avenue.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending family notifications. The investigation is ongoing pending the autopsy and toxicology reports.

The Endicott Police were assisted at the scene by Norfolk Southern Police and railway personnel, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and the Broome County Coroner’s office.
