Area Residents Call for Peace With Social Justice Sundays

By Brianna Case.
Area residents promoted peace today for Social Justice Sunday.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton invited Kevin Martin, President of National Peace Action to speak on the importance of peace during their Social Justice Sunday event.

The main focus was making the world a better place without violence.

The group is hoping that the Social Justice Sunday event will inspire others to commit to the human justice and peaceable determination demonstrated people like Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr.

"A lot of people are thinking we are in the really violent part of our history, which is true, but it's also that around the world and in the United States, non-violence works better than violence," said Kevin Martin, Executive Director of Peace Action.

Martin hopes to inspire others with more presentations in the future.
