Man Arrested After Cortland County Meth Lab Bust

A Cortland County man was arrested after police shut down what they are calling an active meth lab at his residence.

Cortland County Sheriff's arrested Bret Eccleston, 24 after responding to a reported active meth lab at 7593 W. Keeny Rd in the Town of Cuyler.

Authorities say upon their arrival to the residence, Eccleston and 2 of his friends were inside.

Police evacuated the home due to potential hazardous conditions before discovering components used to make methamphetamine.

Police took the three in for questioning and then released Eccleston's 2 friends.

The investigation continued Saturday with a search of the residence. Police say they discovered several components needed to manufacture methamphetamine and recovered 15 ounces of suspected meth oil.

Eccleston was arraigned and sent to the Cortland County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.

He faces the following charges:

-Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine
-Unlawful Disposal of Methamphetamine Laboratory Material
-Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree

The investigation is ongoing and other possible arrests are pending.
