Arrest Made in Binghamton Home Invasion

An arrest was made in the Wednesday morning home invasion in Binghamton,

Brandon C. Vernon of Norwalk, Connecticut was arrested for his involvement in the invasion that occurred at 48 Court Street. He has been charged with Burglary in the first degree. Vernon was arraigned in City Court and remanded to the custody of the Broome County Jail.

At 4:51 am Wednesday, Binghamton Police responded to a reported home invasion that occurred at an apartment located in 48 Court Street. The resident and his girlfriend were in the apartment at the time of the incident. The two reported that two suspects forcibly entered the apartment, assaulted the male occupant, secured their hands and placed pillow cases over their heads.

According to authorities, the two suspects then ransacked the apartment before making off with undetermined amount of property. The only description of the suspects is that they were both black males in their early twenties. The male victim sustained minor injuries to his head and face area. He was treated at an area hospital for those injuries.

Binghamton Police Crime Scene Unit and Detectives responded to the scene. The investigation is continuing and an additional arrest is expected.
