By FOX 40 Staff.
An Owego mother was arrested for felony DWI after a hit-and-run incident while her one-year-old child was in the car with her.

Wednesday night, New York State Police at Owego arrested Kayla M. Johnson, 24 for the felony of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child less than 16 years old, the misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child and numerous traffic violations.

Troopers responded to a Tioga County 911 report of a hit and run accident that occurred at the intersection of Penn Avenue and State Route 434, in the Town of Owego.

Police say that Johnson was driving with her one year old child when she crashed into the back of a vehicle that was stopped in traffic at a red light. After locating her, a further investigation determined that she was driving while intoxicated and had decided to leave the scene after she crashed.

Johnson was arraigned in the Town of Owego court and was remanded to the Tioga County jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1000 property bond.
