Ukrainian Woman Admits to Promising Binghamton Man $10,000 For Marriage

A Ukrainian woman admitted to a money for marriage scam with a Binghamton man to become a US citizen.
Natalie Polkowski pleaded guilty in Syracuse federal court on Thursday. Prosecutors said she admitted to never intending on having a life with John Polkowski after the marriage.
John Polkowski, of Binghamton, pleaded guilty to the same crime in April 2014. Polkowski told prosecutors he was promised 10,000 dollars to marry the Ukrainian native.
Natlia Polkowski will be sentenced on July 21 in federal court. She faces up to five years in prison and as much as $250,000 in fines.
