Over 30,000 Cases of Bumble Bee Tuna Recalled

Nearly 32,000 cases of Bumble Bee 5oz canned Chunk Light Tuna have been voluntarily recalled due to “spoilage organisms or pathogens” that could cause serious illness.

Recalled items include 5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water, 5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Oil, and the 4 pack of 5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water.

According to Bumble Bee, the recall is due to process deviations that occurred in a co-pack facility not owned or operated by Bumble Bee. In a press release, the company said that, “These deviations were part of the commercial sterilization process and could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed”.

Bumble Bee stated that there have been no reports of illness associated with these products to date.
