May Beats Incumbent in Owego Mayor's Race

By FOX 40 Staff.
Village of Owego voters elected a new mayor. Board members and Owego businessman Steve May won by 119 votes against incumbent Kevin Millar.

May and three trustee candidates ran on the Taxpayer's First line, which swept Tuesday's election according to unofficial results.

Unofficial results show May received 464 votes and 345 went to Millar.

In the races for village trustees, Ed Morton defeated Richard VanHall 452 - 349 for Village Trustee Ward 1. Earl Hartman defeated Theresa Gosart 456 - 343 for Village Trustee Ward 2. Michael Phelps defeated Patrick Cartwright Jr. 484 – 322 for Village Trustee Ward 3.

Owego Village Clerk Rod Marchewka, who ran unopposed, said results were delayed because of problems with new electronic voting machines.
