Parents and Students Complain About Leadership in Binghamton District Board Meeting
By Fox 40 Staff. The room was packed at the Binghamton City School District Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.
Teachers wearing blue union t-shirts and concerned parents flooded the auditorium after ongoing frustration with what they say is a lack of school leadership.
Earlier today the Binghamton Teacher's Association called for the removal of District Superintendent Marion Martinez after she allegedly violated union policy in two different reported unfair labor complaints.
"When the teachers have a vote of a 97 percent 'No Confidence,' when the principals are filing actions or they have their own grievances they filed, I'd say that's a big issue," said parent Christopher Grace.
A coalition for concerned parents also called on Martinez's removal in an online petition.
The next board meeting is scheduled for April 18th.
