Chenango Co Murder Suspect Waives Jury Trail in "Road Rage" Murder
By FOX 40 Staff. John Guzy, the man accused of shooting and killing 26-year-old Derek Prindle Jr., of Afton in October of 2014, has waived his right to a jury trial Monday.
A Chenango County Court Judge will decide the verdict. The trail date is set for April 4th. Guzy, 57, who was working part time as a Chenango County corrections officer when the crime took place, faces 17 total charges, including second-degree murder and attempted murder.
New York State Police say it was tailgating that lead to a heated confrontation over tailgating took place along State Highway 7 in Bainbridge -- where Guzy opened fire on both Prindle Jr. and his father, Derek Prindle Sr. The father was seriously injured, but survived -- while his son died on the scene outside of Peak Fitness in Bainbridge.
