St. Patty's Runners Lace Up To Feed The Hungry

By Faith Jessie.
Runners in the community laced up for a good cause in the 15th Annual St. Patrick's Day 4-miler.

The race that took place in Binghamton on Saturday started and ended at St. Patrick's Church.

This is the second race in the inaugural year of the Empire Road Race series sponsored by Visions Credit Union. The series was formed with the mission to increase interest in fitness and to work together to support the charities that each race contributes to.

Net proceeds from the 4-miler will be sent to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and CHOW

"You look around the area, there is a lot of who depend on the food banks for their food and that's how we got to that conclusion. We thought that was where the greatest need was," said Tom Ryan, 4-Miler Director.

There are seven races in the Empire Road Race series. The next race in the series is the 43rd Annual Forks XV 15K Run on March 20th. You can visit http://www.empireraceseries.run to register.
