Man Charged After Shooting Self, Citizen Tips Lead to Arrest and More in Your Crime Wrap

Broome County Sheriffs arrest a couple men after a larceny investigation. 23-year-old Nicholas J. Bump of Binghamton and 37-year-old Keith W. Starford of Endicott were taken into custody as result of an incident that occurred at Maines Food and Party Warehouse on March 3rd.

Bump is accused of using force and physically resisting apprehension by a store employee while attempting to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from the business. Starford is accused of being present for the incident but not actively participating in it.

The sheriff's office says tips from the public lead to the arrest.

Also, 23-year-old Jorey Wolfe of Endicott is hit with a Criminal Possession of a Weapon charge. On January 30th, Endicott Police responded to a call on East Franklin Street for a male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

It was then determined that the man who had the wound had shot himself accidentally with an illegally owned handgun. He was allegedly showing off the weapon to some of his friends. Wolfe was hospitalized for several weeks.

And a 21-year-old from Candor was arrested by Owego Police, charged with aiding and abetting by others with having committed the offense of Criminal Injection of a Narcotic Drug. Joseph M. Allen was arraigned in the Village Court before being sent to Tioga County Jail.
