Tioga Downs Displays Expansion Progress

The first major phase of the multi-million dollar expansion project to turn Tioga Downs into a full-fledged casino came to completion Monday afternoon.

After months of construction, dozens came out to the casino to witness a "topping off" ceremony.

Owner Jeff Gural, along with Tioga Downs staff, signed the final steel beam before it was lifted into place for the completion of the expansion’s preliminary framework.

"Over the next couple of months, we should be able to put 300-400 people to work. I think that's music to everybody's ears," said Tioga Downs Owner Jeff Gural.

Training for dealers will begin next week. Job fairs to recruit employees will be held at the end of March.

Tioga Downs is still awaiting approval for a full-gaming license.

Gural says casino construction is expected to be completed this summer.
