Bearcats maintain home court advantage in road unis

Saturday night in the America East Quarterfinals the Bnighamton University Bearcats will don their road green uniforms... on their home court. The Bearcats are the fifth seed in the conference tournament and the default road team against four seed UMBC. But the first two rounds of the AEast Tournament are being played at the BU Events Center.

The Bearcats have had the ultimate home court advantage picking up ten of their 13 wins this season at home. In conference play only Hartford, Maine, and Albany beat the Bearcats at the Events Center. Albany and Maine are the top two seeds in the conference and the loss to Hartford came on a bad shooting night. So there's plenty of confidence for BU heading into what is essentially a home playoff game.

"We love playing here. We love our fans. It's just comfortable," said sophomore guard Imani Watkins. "Everybody's comfortable here. We're in here every day. I think it sets up real nice for us."

"There's always a comfort level when you play in your own gym, sleep in your own bed. They have their own routine, they go to class. They're still going to class [Friday], everyone else is going to be in a hotel," said Head Coach Linda Cimino. "So there's something to be said about that. But our fan support has been amazing. The energy in the building that's coming from the stands definitely helps us on the court and I think that's something that we look forward to playing at home."
