Police Search for Shooter in Early Morning Incident

By FOX 40 Staff.
New York State Police are looking for the suspect in a report of shots fired early Thursday morning in the area of Glenwood Road and Prospect Street in the Town of Dickinson.

According to police, one man fired five or six shots at two people driving on Glenwood Road just after midnight Thursday. No one was injured.

"The car the two potential victims were in started to flee the scene and struck a couple cars," said NYSP Captain Scott Heggelke.

Investigators believe the shooter was inside a residence of the 100 block of Adams Street before the incident.

A Special Operations Response Team (SORT) was called in to secure the area. Eight residents had to leave their homes.

"It took awhile because because we wanted to make sure the houses were secured in case there were any suspects in the houses," said NYSP Captain Scottt Heggelke.

Heggelke said authorities are also looking for the possible victims. Right now, police do not have a specific description of the shooter, only that he is a white male.

The investigation blocked off access to Broome-Tioga BOCES. Heggelke said police called the superintendent so transportation could be re-routed.

Glenwood Road has been reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
