Basketball Tournament on Friday Will Raise Money for Windsor Youth Sports

By Fox 40 Staff.
A basketball tournament Friday will help rebuild youth sports programs in Windsor.

In November, the Director of the Windsor Youth Sports Program was charged with stealing $18,000 from the program.

The game will be played by members of law enforcement versus Windsor High School coaches and teachers.

State Senator Fred Akshar, a former member of the Broome County Sheriff's office, will play on the law enforcement team.

"He reached out as soon as he heard about it and immediately wanted to help out any way he could and I was like, 'Well we could put a jersey on you and you could play a little bit,''" said Lieutenant David Bidwell of the Binghamton Police Department.

The game will take place this Friday at the Windsor High School gym at 7:30 p.m.

Students in grades 3 through 12 are also invited to play in separate tournaments starting at 3:30 p.m.
