Cuomo Rallies Support for $15 an Hour Minimum Wage
Though many in the business community frown on the idea of a $15 minimum wage, Governor Andrew Cuomo is praising the idea. He delivered remarks at an event in the Syracuse region Wednesday as part of the Mario Cuomo Campaign for Economic Justice.
At the event, Cuomo said, "It is harder and harder for the working families in the middle class, and they've been on an economic treadmill. They're running faster, and they're standing in place or they're going backwards, because your earning potential literally in the middle class has gone backwards. "
Cuomo rallied at this "Drive for $15" gathering and is urging the state legislature to pass what is described as his phased-in minimum wage proposal this legislative session.
