Eddie Block Gang Member Pleads Guilty

One of the nine accused members of the drug trafficking “Eddie Block Gang” pleaded guilty in Federal Court on Wednesday afternoon.

John Abbadessa, 21, of Binghamton, pleaded guilty to a felony of drug trafficking conspiracy. Accepting the plea deal, Abbadessa confirmed in court that he was involved with the packaging or distribution of at least one kilogram of heroin.

He is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas McAvoy on June 30 in Binghamton.

Abbadessa is the first of nine defendants to plead guilty from the Nov. 17, 2015 arrests for a drug trafficking scheme.

The "Eddie Block Gang" arrests came after an extensive investigation by law enforcement, which used wire taps to track their activity, and set up drug sales between the suspects and undercover cops.

Authorities believe the group's drug dealing activities began in January of 2014.

The drug trafficking charge comes with a sentence of ten years to life in prison.
