Senator Kirsten Gillibrand pushes for Gun Control Legislation

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing for new gun control legislation as the Supreme Court considers a gun ban for those convicted of domestic violence.

This comes as the 8 sitting justices hear arguments on Voisine v. United States, a case that may determine the type of domestic violence record that could prohibit someone from owning or purchasing a firearm.

"If someone has exhibited criminal behavior, assaulting their wives, assaulting their children, they shouldn't be eligible to buy guns. it's the same rationale as being on the terrorist watch list. and those are the kind of common sense changes to the law that makes sense that don't affect the second amendment rights of law abiding gun owners, and those are reforms that frankly our state supports."

said the Democratic Senator in a telephone interview. She also expressed her disappointment with the Senate's unwillingness to consider an Obama Supreme Court Nominee to replace Justice Scalia, who died on February 13th.
