Oakdale Mall Officially Smoke-Free Campus

By Molly Darrow.
On Tuesday, Broome County officials announced that you will no longer be able to smoke anywhere on the campus of the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.

The ban will cover all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.

Officials say the policy was implemented to protect shoppers, visitors and employees from exposure to secondhand smoke.

According to the Broome County Health Department, a local Community Tobacco Survey found that 88% of Broome County residents support restricting or eliminating smoking in public building entryways.

The Oakdale Mall joins several other shopping malls in the state adopting a tobacco-free campus.
