By Fox 40 News.
A domestic dispute ended in an icy pond and then in handcuffs for a Cortland County Man.

Sheriff's responded to a call in the Town of Willet on Saturday where a victim claimed to be punched several times in the face by boyfriend, Elvis Guzman, 27.

According to police, Guzman threatened to hit the victim with a baseball bat inside of their home at the Rock Acres Trailer Park, but fled the scene before officers arrived.

State Police in Whitney Point spotted and attempted to stop Guzman but say he did not stop. Guzman continued down Route 79 south of Whitney Point and drove off of the roadway, landing in a stone quarry pond.

There were three children inside the home during the dispute and the victim was taken to the Cortland Regional Medical Center to be treated for serious physical injuries.

Guzman was taken to Wilson Medical to be treated for exposure to the icy water and then was taken into custody.

He is charged with 2nd degree assault, 2nd degree menacing, 4th degree criminal possession of a weapon and 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Guzman was arraigned in the Town of Willet Court and remanded on $10,000 bail. Additional charges are possible and the investigation is continuing.
