BANGOR, Maine – The Binghamton women's basketball team (13-16, 8-8 AE) concluded its regular season with a 69-37 loss at Maine (24-7, 15-1 AE) in an America East game on Saturday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.

Despite the loss, the Bearcats head into the upcoming America East Tournament having improved by six wins over last year's conference total. Depending on the results of Sunday's America East games, the Bearcats will be seeded anywhere from No. 3 to No. 6 when postseason play begins next weekend.

Against Maine on Saturday, sophomore forward Alyssa James led the Bearcats with 18 points. Senior guard Kim Albrecht added 11 points and freshman guard Rebecca Carmody grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Albrecht scored five of her points in the opening period as Binghamton and Maine were deadlocked at 9-9 through 10 minutes. The Black Bears, however, scored the first 10 points of the second period to go up 19-9 with 5:46 remaining. Sigi Koizar, who finished with a game-high 19 points, had four of her points during that stretch.

A pair of free throws by Albrecht brought Binghamton to within 19-14 with 3:27 left before the half. Maine responded by scoring the final eight points before the break. Bella Swan, who ended up with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, scored six of her points during that stretch.

Up 40-26 at the end of the third period, Maine reeled off 29 points during the final 10 minutes. The Black Bears drained four three-point field goal shots in the process.

Binghamton is hosting the America East Tournament for the second year in a row. The quarterfinal round will be held on Saturday, starting at noon. The semifinals begin the following day at 2 p.m. The title game will be held on March 11 at the site of the highest remaining seed.

The America East will release its 2016 Tournament bracket following the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday afternoon.
