Broome-Tioga BOCES Ready for Odyssey of the Mind Competition

Hundreds of the area’s brightest young minds will shine at the Region 12 Odyssey of the Mind competition at Broome-Tioga BOCES on Saturday.

Participants will include 102 teams from 15 school districts. Officials say our local competition is the largest in the state.

The teams perform skits to show how they solve particular problems. According to organizers, the competition builds skills including math, creativity, and teamwork.

"It's a great opportunity to enhance those skills and to put them to work in a fun setting," said Jim Mullins, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Programs at Broome-Tioga BOCES, "And, you know, it's a fun day for them."

The fun begins at 7:20 a.m. and will run throughout the day. They will end at approximately 3:30 p.m. The awards ceremonies will begin at 4:30 in the main gym.

Many of the winning teams will move on to the state competition.
