Globetrotter on Bullying Prevention

Excited students poured into the gym at Chenango Bridge Elementary Cchool to welcome a special guest.

Wun "The Shot" Versher from the Harlem Globetrotters showed some smooth moves and dished out sound advice.

"Just trying to give tips to students if they are ever caught in a situation with being bullied. Just some things they can do to avoid confrontation," said Wun Versher from the Harlem Globetrotters.

"It's a great way for students to do something fun and different, but it's also a way we can continue to have that conversation about making good choices and making good decisions," said Marybeth Mammond, Principal at Chenango Bridge Elementary.

Versher taught the "ABC's of Bullying Prevention."

"A stands for action, B stands for bravery and C stands for compassion," said Versher.

Bullying hits home for Wun. That is part of the reason why he does this.

"When I was in elementary school, third or fourth grade I can't remember, but I do remember a kid constantly coming after me," said Versher.

For the Globetrotters there is so much more they like to do than just entertain people, with their basketball skills.

"It's easy just to come here and entertain, but why rest that presence with just entertaining and leave them with something they can possibly use," said Versher.

Skills that can be passed on to prevent bullying.

The Globetrotters will be showing off more skills during their performance in Binghamton March 6.
