MacBallers Gang Member Sentenced

By Fox 40 Staff.
A man involved in the MacBallers drug trafficking gang, associated with the Bloods street gang, learned his fate Friday morning in federal court in Binghamton.

Daynell Rowland, 33, of Syracuse, was sentenced to seven and a half years in federal prison.

In 2014, Rowland pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and sell narcotics.

In court on Friday, Rowland apologized to his family and the community for the affects of his crimes.

He was one of 14 people arrested by federal authorities in March of 2014 for their involvement in a Binghamton drug distribution ring. Rowland was arrested for supplying a large amount of heroin and marijuana to another member of the MacBallers drug gang.

Some of his co-conspirators are still awaiting sentencing.

Judge Thomas McAvoy recognized that Rowland had a shorter involvement in the gang than other defendants and no criminal evidence of carrying weapons or intent to harm anyone.

Rowland will also face eight years of post-release supervision.
